Debating Championships 2025
Turan is the first private university in Kazakhstan. In 2020, we received the Altyn Sapa award as the best service provider.
The university has 5 faculties: Humanities and Law, Economics, Digital Technologies and Arts, Preparatory and Faculty of English-language STEM programs
Turan is the first institution in Kazakhstan to be admitted to the European Logistics Association (ELA).
We were the first in Kazakhstan to connect to the Eduroam project, which allows students and employees to use free Wi-Fi at universities in 54 countries of the world.

In Turan School Debating Championship we do NOT allow the usage of any electronic devises during the preparation time and during the debates.
However, participants are allowed to use printed materials that they prepared before the competition based on prepared motions and hints.
We implements these rules to make sure that competition is fair and our students are ready to compete internationally where similar rules will be applied.

Friends, our tournament will be themed “Countries of the World” ! This means you have the opportunity to choose any country and express its culture through clothing or accessories.
👗 Wear a national costume, a T-shirt with a flag, or add any element that represents the country you are showcasing!

Round 1 Education
This House Prefers secondary schools adopting a classical education model rather than a progressive education model

Classical education relies on teacher-led, structured lectures, with minimal student driven discussion or exercises. Subjects are distinct units that are clearly delineated (e.g., math, English, etc) and taught primarily through textbooks.
In contrast, progressive education positions teachers as facilitators with a focus on student-led discussion, project-based learning, and experiential learning. Learning is organised thematically around a single topic (e.g., environmentalism, space exploration, etc) and can draw on sources such as news articles, fiction books, documentaries, and academic papers from different areas (science, history, etc.).
For the purpose of this debate, secondary schools refer to schools with students from age of 14 to 18.

THBT athletes should not be permitted to express political views during major sporting events
